Urban Earth Wellness

Urban Earth Wellness is owned by Mara Jones Doctor of Natural Medicine. It is the "mother business" of two different, but complimentary enterprise: "Urban Earth," which provides organic teas and botanicals; and "Sleep Well" which provides consultations, testing and products geared towards helping people achieve optimum sleep and energy.

Mara began her career in Natural Medicine while studying Plant Science and Physical Anthropology at the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC).  She became fascinated by the complex inter-relationship between plant, humans and their environments.  After graduating from UNBC with her Bachelor of Science, she decided to continue her studies at Dominion Herbal College, where is enrolled in an intensive three year in-class course in Clinical Herbal Therapy.

After earning her diploma as a Clinical Herbal Therapist (CHT), Mara opened her practice in New Westminster, B.C. where she practiced until moving to Powell River, B.C. in July 2006.  During this time she gained certification as an Aromatherapist at the Pacific Institute of Aromatherapy.

While becoming established in Powell River, Mara completed further training, at the Alternative Medicine College of Canada (AMCC), to quality as a Doctor of Natural Medicine (DNM).  This is awarded by the Board of Natural Medicine Doctors and Practitioners of North America.

MARA’S PHILOSOPHY

In her role as an educator, Mara encourages clients to take a proactive approach to their health and teaches them how decisions they make about nutrition and lifestyle can affect their physical, mental and emotional health.

In her role as a practitioner, Mara helps patients reach their health goals by supporting their body’s innate ability to heal using quality botanicals and supplements, as well as nutritional counseling and lifestyle amendments.
